Only a few weeks to go, so here are some suggestions for things to do in or near Woodhall Spa this Christmas.
Woodhall Spa: This year’s Christmas Fayre is on Friday 5th December. Once again Station Road and The Broadway will be closed to traffic between 5.00pm and 9.00pm to make way for about 100 stalls and street entertainers. We expect that all the shops will be open, joining in the Christmas spirit. The Millennium Garden and The Broadway trees will be illuminated by The Rotary Club of Woodhall Spa, and shopkeepers may also add their own Christmas lighting to their window displays. The popular Sleaford Ukele Orchestra are coming along too!
Horncastle: The Christmas Market is on Sunday 30 November, 10am to 4pm. A range of stalls will be selling crafts, gifts and food and there’s live entertainment throughout the day.
If you prefer to get away from the crowds, on the same day there’s a Walkers are Welcome walk starting at 10am at the Captain and Cook (on the corner of Church Lane / Wharf Road, Horncastle, LN9 5HW). It’s 5.5 miles long, and suitable for children. Dogs are welcome too provided they are kept on a lead. Any queries please call Gail Dymoke on 01507 522337
On Saturday 6 December it’s free parking in the ELDC car parks at The Wong, The Bain, Market Place and St Lawrence Street, to support Small Business Saturday, so why not visit Horncastle and support your local businesses?
Finally, Friday 12 December at 6.30 pm is when the Christmas Tree of Light gets switched on.
Alford: The Christmas Craft Markets are on Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd November and Sat 6th & Sun 7th December between 10am and 4pm with free admission. Come along and see a wide variety of lovingly crafted items and choose a beautiful gift or something for the home. Refreshments are available too.
The markets in Alford are among the longest standing craft markets in the UK. and the first of their kind in the Wolds. They were established in 1974 by two craftspeople, Heather & Michel Ducos of Alford Pottery, who are still active today and share a long term vision and a love for their town.
Gunby Hall (National Trust): A bit further afield, but well worth the trip, Gunby Hall near Spilsby will be open 29 and 30 November, 6,7,13 and 14 December for a traditional Christmas. Enjoy the decorated house and join in with carol singing around the grand piano in the Music Room. Bring the family and get into the festive mood!
Tattershall Castle (National Trust)The Castle is hosting a Christmas Market Sat 15 – Sun 16 November, 11am – 4pm. Come and pick up some unique handmade Christmas gifts from Lincolnshire crafts people and food suppliers. Free entry all weekend.
