Woodhall Spa’s Cottage Museum may seem small, but it is one of Lincolnshire’s finest, having literally risen like a Phoenix from the flames since an arson attack in 2011. It was originally “…..the vision of one man, John Wield, over a hundred years ago. He foresaw that one-day people would ask about the origins of the then young Victorian spa community and so set about recording what he could for the future. John had a fascination with the art of photography, one of his many interests, and it is his photographic collection, which forms the basis for today’s Cottage Museum.”
But as well as capturing the village’s fascinating past, the museum hosts a range of special events throughout the summer. Here’s the August programme:
August 3 at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm: Creative Clay – Fantasy Creatures. This is another of our fun-filled children’s event. Come and have fun with different modelling materials. The event is only £3.00 per child and this covers all the materials.
August 6 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Live Music In The Museum Garden. Why not join us for some live music in the Garden? The second in the 2017 series will feature Colin and Gerry with a Jazz theme and they return by popular demand.
August 9 at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Play with Victorian Toys, and have lots of fun with lots of painting activities. The price of only £3.00 per child covers all materials. This event is suitable for children three years old and over.
August 13 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Live Music In The Museum Garden. The third session for 2017 sees the return of Mike Warwick who plays and sings to music from the 1950s
August 16 at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Are you a good garden detective? Come and make a pooter, (small container used for catching small insects). Discover a hidden world of invertebrates in the museum garden.
August 20 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Live Music In The Museum Garden.The 4th in the 2017 series features the Coningsby Strummers who will perform a variety of music. Come for the afternoon or just drop by.
August 27 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Live Music In The Museum Garden.The 5th and final offering for 2017 features the Lincoln Ukulele Band who performed at the 1940s opening event in July.
