Road works in Horncastle, Woodhall Spa and Kirkby on Bain

Major road works in Horncastle started yesterday, involving carriageway resurfacing, junction and traffic signal improvements in the town centre and the construction of a new shared footway/cycle pathway on Langton Hill.

Phase 1: West Street to be reconstructed from the junction with Reindeer Close to the Bridge Street/Prospect Street junction. Works are scheduled to end by September 10th.

Changes to bus services until the end October:

–          Brylaine, National Express and PC Coaches bus services will not be servicing the Market Place bus interchange; instead, a temporary stop on North Street will be in use
–          Stagecoach/Interconnect services will also not be servicing the Market Place bus interchange; instead, a temporary stop on Jubilee Way will be in use
–          CallConnect services will continue serving the Market Place bus interchange, except for Service 24, which will use the temporary bus stop on North Street

Phase 2: Improvements to junction and traffic signals on the A158 and carriageway resurfacing, bridge deck waterproofing and new road marking, carried out on the A158 from Monday 10 September for seven weeks. During the resurfacing works, which will take place towards the end of October for two weeks, the A158 will be closed between the hours of 7pm and 6am. As part of the road closure, a signed diversion route will be in place.

Phase 3: The final phase of the project is expected to last for six weeks, between October and December. This will provide access into a new housing development and the construction of a shared footway/cycle pathway into Langton Hill connecting to the existing path. Traffic management will include a full road closure from Langton Hill to its junction with the B1191 (with a local diversion and residential and business access maintained).

There will be a temporary restriction to all vehicles on Kirkby Lane for 4 days between 10/9/2018 and 17/9/2018. Adequate arrangements will be made to enable pedestrians to access premises in the affected area while works progress. Closures will be implemented as and when required in each location during this period.  Signage detailing accurate dates and times will be displayed on site in advance. Local diversion routes and access arrangements will be signposted.
