Self help provides a new clubhouse for Woodhall bowlers

Phot courtesy Jubilee Park, Woodhall SpaAfter months of fundraising, members of Woodhall Spa’s Jubilee Park Bowling Club decided to use their own people power to finish the job of building their much needed new clubhouse.  They can now afford a £30,000 prefabricated building to provide larger premises, with its own kitchen and disabled toilets, but that’s just for starters.

To avoid further costs club members have been out on the site in the park with diggers and tools preparing the foundations for the building, having cleared the site themselves and taken down the old clubhouse – all under their own steam.

Brief Encounter at Jubilee Park

Poster courtesy movie poster shopDon’t miss a rare opportunity to see David Lean’s classic Brief Encounter, starring Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson, on a large outdoor screen in the beautiful grounds of Jubilee Park on July 16. The doors will open at 9.00pm and the film will start at approximately 9.30pm depending on light levels.

Food and Fitness Festival

Cricket club bowled over by pavilion refurbishment

Woodhall Spa Cricket Club members have been looking forward all season to the long-awaited upgrading of their pavilion. And now it’s happening.  Refurbishment is now well under way at the Jubilee Park Pavilion which has served the club so well since it opened in 1971. When the work is completed, it will mean safer changing rooms for juniors, better disability access and facilities, plus a more environmentally friendly heating system.

The club awarded the renovation contract to Peter Jackson Cabinet Makers Ltd of Horncastle, following approval by the project main funders, WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd) and the England and Wales Cricket Board Trust. Continue reading

New investment sought for Woodhall Spa

Since we started this blog just over a year ago we have reported on some important developments in Woodhall Spa, such as the acquisition of the old aerodrome by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, the ongoing plans to restore the Spa itself, the Petwood Hotel Peto Gardens and the Woodhall Spa Football Club buildings, and the Book Fayre redevelopment.

All these improvements necessarily involve major investment, and now we hear that there’s more to come: Continue reading
