Mustard Gas update: Kirkby Lane closure

From East Lindsey District Council:

Colleagues from the Ministry of Defence have arranged to complete the final phase of clean up works on site. This work involves identifying and removing debris from the site in the location where the Mustard Gas was discovered.

For the works to be completed a road closure on Kirkby Lane in Woodhall Spa will be necessary and this is expected be in place from 11 March 21:00 to 23 March 21:00, though this may end earlier if the works are concluded ahead of schedule. Whilst all traces of Mustard Gas have now been removed from the site, MOD operatives on site will be using full chemical weapon protective equipment as a precautionary measure. Continue reading

Kirkby Lane closed again

Yes, it’s about those pesky mustard gas cylinders again. Kirkby Lane will be closed from from November 20 to 1.30pm November 25, due to the decontamination work in progress. To judge by the positions of the road signs the closure seems to be between the old chicken farm (opposite “Woodlands”,) and the junction with Woodland Drive.

There is also a sign at the Woodhall Spa T junction (B1191) but did nobody have the wit or courtesy to place a sign at the Kirkby on Bain end of the lane or at the junction with Wellsyke Lane?

NB:  According to East Lindsey District Council, who are coordinating the project, the time and date of the end of the closure has been changed to 1pm on November 25.
